AECA Privacy Policy

AECA (American European Community Association) is a non-profit Brussels-based International Association which provides a neutral forum for senior members of the international business, political, government and diplomatic communities to meet and engage in meaningful debates on a wide range of policy issues.

In accordance with the high standards for data privacy introduced by the new European data protection law known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), AECA is committed to being open about its policies and practices with respect to the handling of personal information.

This Privacy Policy is designed to explain in a clear, transparent and accessible manner how personal data is managed at AECA.

1. Personal Data: Which personal data does AECA collect and process?

AECA only gathers in its database personal data of leading business leaders and senior policy-makers for the purpose of inviting them to exclusive events, sending them information about AECA events and keeping them updated on its activities.
This information, obtained through individual contacts, includes name, business title, company/organization, current and prior functions, general contact information as well as policy of interest.
We also keep for our records data regarding individual participation in past AECA events as a member, prospective member, sponsor, speaker or simple attendee.
No sensitive data (such as health-related data or bank account details) are asked or stored.
Our website (www.aeca.org) does not use cookies.

2. No commercial purpose

We do not use your data for commercial purposes nor do we share it with any third party.

Your data will therefore never be transferred to any third party neither in Europe nor outside Europe.

3. Security

The security of your personal information is very important to us. We have put in place the necessary physical, technological and managerial procedures to safeguard the integrity of our database, which is stored on servers located in Belgium.
With our strategic IT partner, Arxus, an ISO27000 certified company and Cloud Service Provider located in Belgium, we take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data is being kept secured and to prevent any breach of data.

4. Access to information and data rectification

You have at any time the right of access, modification, correction and removal of your data stored in our database. You can request this by contacting AECA by e-mail at info@aeca.org
Note that every event invitation offers you the possibility to unsubscribe. You will find the “unsubscribe” button at the bottom of your personal email invitation.

5. Lodge a complaint

Should you consider that, despite our best efforts, we have violated your rights as a data subject, you may wish to lodge a complaint before the relevant national authority. As a Belgian-based association, you will have to address your complaint regarding AECA to the Belgian Supervisory authority:
